The requirement for two prefab classrooms was at a central London college offering further and higher education plus apprenticeships and training for young people and adults. The college needed additional space for plumbing and brickwork classes and as speed and cost were two crucial factors they ruled out a traditional building and started looking at prefab solutions.
The college narrowed their choice down to four suppliers; two other aluminium prefab building companies and a steel building company. Opting for the lighter aluminium framed building meant the project would be completed much quicker and within budget as the buildings require minimal or no groundworks. And, choosing HTS INDUSTRIAL meant they were working directly with the primary industry manufacturer as opposed to a supplier; essential the experts. The following specifications were agreed on, manufactured and installed by HTS INDUSTRIAL
- Customised 12.00m wide classroom by 15.00m long and 4.20 wall height
- 2 personnel doors and 1 roller shutter door
- 15.00m wide by a customised 23.00m long and 4.20m wall height
- 3 x personnel doors
Both prefab classrooms had insulated steel sandwich wall panels and insulated PVC thermo roof plus external guttering and downpipes.
The installation of the buildings presented some challenges as the build was in a very tight space and the work needed to be carried out when the college was open. Several other parties were also involved in the project including architects and various trades. HTS INDUSTRIAL has vast experience in this type of customised, multi-partner project and can adapt their approach whilst adhering to all industry, client and third party safety procedures and requirements.
Within the tight timeframe and budget the college were provided with two brand new facilities enabling them to expand their brickwork and plumbing classes.
